Policies on Using Stake Recreation Center
- The Stake Recreation Center of the Salt Lake Mount Olympus Stake is a private religious property dedicated for gospel learning, fellowship, and appropriate, wholesome activities. The use of the Stake Recreation Center is a privilege.
- Uses must be consistent with the policies and practices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must be within the bounds of the law, and must be consistent with the Church’s tax-exempt status.
- Smoking, vaping, drinking of alcoholic or intoxicating beverages, or use of illicit substances are strictly prohibited.
- Users must take appropriate steps to avoid, mitigate, and manage safety risks, including for safeguarding children and youth.
- Users must comply with conditions and limitations provided by the stake presidency.
- All events must be supervised in-person by a designated, responsible adult.
- Users have full responsibility for any damage to the facilities or any injury or liability in connection with such use.
- Users must clean up and fully restore the facilities to pre-use condition.
- Users must comply with direction and requests from local leaders, including requests by leaders to monitor the use of the facility.
- Local leaders may ask any individual or group to stop using the property if they are not complying with guidelines.
- The Stake Recreation Center property may not be used for commercial purposes. For example, it may not be used to support, promote, or sponsor any kind of businesses or investments; the buying, selling, or promoting of products, services, publications, or creative works.
- The Stake Recreational Property may not be used for holding unauthorized fundraising activities; hosting or accommodating speakers, instructors, educational groups, or other service providers who receive a fee for seminars, lessons, classes, or other activities.
- The Church is politically neutral. Church property may not be used for political or advocacy purposes. Prohibited activities include political meetings and use by political campaigns and advocacy groups.
- The following uses of the Stake Recreation Center are not approved: providing overnight shelter, camping, renting or leasing of the property.
- Firearms and other lethal weapons are not allowed on Church property. This includes concealed weapons. This does not apply to current law enforcement officers.
- Fireworks or other hazardous or flammable materials may not be brought to, used, or stored at the Stake Recreation Center. The only exception is charcoal briquettes used in designated barbecue stands. Charcoal must be completely extinguished, and ash and unused briquettes must be removed from the property.
